Clearwater Police investigators are examining a lethal shooting that happened recently at roughly 4:13 p.m. on Tuesday, January 30, 2024.

On Thursday, the Clearwater Police reported that murder analysts have captured 16-year-old Yerney Arvelo, who has been accused of homicide and infringement of probation regarding the passing of Jacques Portage.

Passage was given inside a loft in the 1200 block of Engman Road. He was shipped to Morton Plant Medical clinic, where he passed on from his wounds.

Arvelo, who inhabited the condo where the shooting happened, says the two were "play battling," as per witnesses. That is when witnesses said Arvelo got a firearm, and the weapon went off during the actual trade, striking the person in question.

Criminal investigators keep on examining the case. Extra charges might be approaching.
